Its not a big deal. I remembered someone mentioning "CafePress" on the CsC forum regarding fundraising for their site. So I checked it out and they have stickers. They have two ways to do things: their free site; and their premium site (about $65 a year). The big difference, as I found out last night, is the premium can have more than one design of the same product while the free site is limited to one only - so one bumper sticker, one t-shirt, etc. So if people want to use this, we have a decision to make - do we charge a "profit" on the items to cover the cost of the premium site and then have multiple design options for each item? Or do we charge only the base amount (this means CafePress gets 100% of the funds to cover the cost of producing the item)? The difference is $1 to $5 or so, depending on the item.
I'm not saying CafePress is the way to go. Its just a quick and easy option.
Specifically in regards to stickers, it has a downside - no options on the shape or material. It is a white background, which we can print entirely black if we want, but there's no way to have a clear background. Clear would be preferable in many cases depending on the color of your car or if you want it on a window. But it has an obvious upside too... its cheap and you can get just one if you want.
I opened a "store" and picked a few items and made some designs. Right now the prices are marked up with whatever their default was so we can make it a little cheaper if we don't care about the premium thing. To be clear, SmartieParts and Area 451 are not interested in profiting off of this. As said above, we're honoured that customers want to showcase our product and its free advertising. So I have no problem at all in going in and changing the prices to the "base" levels.
The "store" is at:
