After procrastinating for a long time, I finally installed my CC unit.  The LED flashed solid and I read on the forum that the circuit card had a center hole that was too small.  I enlarged the hole and the cruise worked one time.  The button flew off and one of the retainers was broken.  Now the LED does not flash or even come on and the button held in place does nothing.  I would really like to get a new switch assembly.  I have a 2008 Cabrio, can you give me information on the price and availablity of a new one?

Thanks!

Sorry for the troubles.

First, I want to reiterate (as I did on the thread you mention) that I do not believe there is ever a need to do anything with the circuit board.  The center hole is not too small.  Unlike the plastics, there is almost zero variance from the size and shape of the circuit boards from one to the other, so either they're all too small (they aren't) or they're all fine in that regard.  Yes, I realize at least one person believed it was necessary to modify their circuit board, but I really do believe they were mistaken in what was the actual cause of the problem they were experiencing.   How did you go about enlarging that hole?

To get a new switch, please constact Steven at SmartieParts with your details.
