I'll try to work out what's going on. It sure works on the systems here which are Windows 7 and XP. I tried it on a Vista laptop though, and ran into the problem you guys are having. I'm sure its something simple... in the meantime, the above fixes apply.

Because of the talents we have, web design is not one of them On the first post in this discussion, at the bottom (right below my name), is the attached package. You should see a paperclip followed immediately by text like this, "Area451Programmer.zip (704.82 KB - downloaded 16 times.)" The idea is to eventually have a firmware page outside of the forum. Art.

OK Art, Got it... Unzipped and followed the instructions... It did not work... Error message said it was missing file pk2MD.EXE... hmmmmmmm I went to Microchip, and downloaded File PK2MD v1.02 and did the install into the the Progammer folder... Tried the Programming instructions again, and it work Perfectly...<:-)) Note: Why is the File PK2 v1.02 not included in the Programmer Zip File so people don't have to chase around getting the needed file to make the programmer work...? Also a Retune of the Text File to reflect the install of the need to install the PK2 v1.02 to get all working properly... Note:I'm currently using the #10 Peddle Map... Third map that I tried so far... Its easy to try different maps, as I have the program in my Net Book in the car to do a Quick Change out on the road...<:-)) Microchip http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=1406&dDocName=en023805Thanks Buddy...<:-))

You must have skimmed through this thread, because that is covered. Though I agree we haven't presented it very well.
The package does include a version of that required file. On the system we used to package it, it works fine.. and it does on another system as well. But it seems on most, the file isn't being extracted at run time and I'm not yet sure why that is. Before someone says, "it isn't in the zip file"... no, it isn't. It is actually inside of the EXE file, and is supposed to be extracted when you run it.
But in the meantime, downloading it from microchip, as mentioned earlier, works just fine.

Art, I installed the new software today. Everything works fantastically save for one thing: If I turn OFF the dip switch which is supposed to enable speed memory (switch #2), the cruise control becomes disabled. After doing this pushing the button on the turn-stalk means nothing happens. If I continue to do this several times The warning triangle on the center of my speedometer begins to flash. Luckily switching off the ignition and turning it back on resets the flasher. Switches #1 and #2 function as advertised. Thanks ever so much! Danny

Hi Danny,
That's not good, is it? Let me be sure I'm clear so I can test this: You're saying that while you're driving with switch 2 flipped, and you press the button, nothing happens and if you repeatedly press it you get the dash light? I'm assuming the following: you are driving above 15mph; your gas pedal still works during all this (or at least up until the flashing lights). Is that correct? Or does the gas pedal cut out, even for a second?
Until this is resolved, I have to recommend to everyone not to use switch #2. It sounds like an endless loop is being triggered and the cruise is forced to reset itself. If this is the case, its obviously a programming error on our part. I'll pour through the logs and try to see how that could have slipped past testing. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Finally bought and installed the cruise control for my wife's smart. This is an addition to the one I installed in my smart last year. I have updated both to 1.3.
The install went quickly with only one glitch. I didn't get a pin installed tightly in the ECU connector. It started and ran but beeped continuously in reverse and drive with the cruise control connected but the cruise would not engage. When I installed the jumper plug in place of the cruise the beeping disappeared. After uninstalling and reinstalling a few on the pins it started to work and now seems fine.
I'm looking forward to happy motoring. It is a great product.

INFO NOTE:
~2009 Passion~ I just got the 2.03 (combined soft shift & reverse fix) update at my 10,000 checkup... Its a optional update if your not having reverse problems... Sooooooo what do I think of the update... It refined the shifting a little... I Like It... Service GUY said it will get even better after three weeks of Re-learning the Driver's driving style... Note: 10 minutes to download & flash from Germany... Also I have the AREA 451 CC... Service GUY said no problem... It doesn't cause any problems being connected to the computer to do the flash, or checking for error codes... Its all done through the OBDII Port... I told him I would disconnect the CC if it would be a problem connected to the computer... He said NO ITS NOT A PROBLEM being connected...<:-))
