Ahh.  Thanks for keeping it private, but we have nothing to hide here :)

The "stuff" he ordered is our competitor's unit.  Which actually I probably should have recommended from the beginning because it does in fact work with the CDI and ours doesn't.  This is because their unit installs at the front of the car and they access the speedometer connections for signal data, and it is the same for both cars.  Of course, it suffers from the downside of installing at the pedal, which is a high-moisture area, using unsealed electronics so the unit is prone to shorting (and is the reason it can't pass DOT recommendations).

Still, I would have to concede that if you're wanting cruise ASAP for your CDI then that is a lot easier than what was discussed above.

I'll close by stating that I stand by our product as being the superior choice for the cars it works on :) - which is all gas models, worldwide, 2007 and newer.

Thanks for the warning about the risk of moisture and shorting   :)

As long as the thing doesn't short out and frazzle all the wiring, I can try this CC out without making any permanent modifications to my car. I can always remove it and install your superior CC should you find a solution for the CDI.

Would you be able to get a connector block made up if I was able to get a gel mould of the Euro CDI connector?

It isn't that simple.  A more accurate (and probably similar cost) method would be 3D laser scanning, but regardless it would cost about $30k to $100k to then make an iron mold out of that.  Plus, it isn't straight plastic so the engineering and production costs are even higher.  Say we even had 100 CDI owners interested (and so far I've heard from 3) that's upwards of $1000 a pop just for the connector.

So no, I don't think it will work.

I guess the simplest way to look at it is that gas owners have two choices while CDI owners don't have that luxury.  Will it happen?  I was somewhat hopeful with you, but if the reality is that CDI owners have an alternative that is easier to swallow - despite technical shortcomings.  The market is so relatively small that it really has to happen as described earlier.

I would have loved to have made it happen for you. I'm sorry we couldn't be of assistance.

Well my offer:
Quote
I can provide accommodation, food and transport to and from the airport, I live close to the main international airport. I can provide the CDI and workshop.
is still valid should you want to visit Europe to try it out on a CDI - just drop me an email.
